Old school death metal band Phobia was one of the first Norwegian extreme metal bands. Formed when childhood friends Grutle Kjellson (Later Enslaved) and Hein Frode Hansen (later Theatre of Tragedy) decided to form a band. Inspired by bands like Autopsy, Carcass, Entombed/Nihilist, Confessor, Paradise Lost, and early Darkthrone, they joined forces with then 13-year-old metal guitarist Ivar Bjørnson in November /December 1990. They only existed for less than a year but managed to play 7-8 shows around Haugesund and Bergen (with bands like Old Funeral, Cadaver, Embryonic, and Witchhammer) and release one demo “Feverish Convulsions”. They disbanded June 1991. Now available for the first time since 1991 on 50 numbered black pro-tapes.
